Native yoik and electronic music from Norway, Sápmi.
Elin & The woods is a collaboration between Sami artist Elin Kåven from Karasjok,Northern Norway, Sápmi and produser/songwriter Robin Lynch, who grew up in Helgeland, Norway, Sápmi, with a father from the USA.
They first appeared on Norwegian Eurovision in 2017 with the song “First step in faith/oadjebasvuhtii”, where they ended on third place.

THE ALBUM "DÁRJJA - ENDURE"
Our debut album
The topic on this album is about being in touch with nature, environmental conservation and is inspired by the worldview of indigenous people. The Sami people are the indigenous people of northern Europe. On this album the lyrics are both in English and in Sami languange, and also yoiking - which is the Sami way of singing is also a bit part of the sound.
“The main inspiration has without doubt been mother nature and us humans relation to it. When we realized that this is something the two of us have in common then it fell naturally to write song about that. We are very happy that we are able to bring forth these topics in our music, they say.
We chose the name Endure on our album because many of our songs is about mother nature and the Sami culture. The Sami people Endure, even through strong colonisation. Like many other indigenous people have too. But we are still here. And the same with our nature, it has taken a lot from us and because of us, but it still remains.
About us
In 2015, the Sami artist Elin Kåven and songwriter/producer Robin Lynch discovered their common interest for nature, primal life and a certain nordic expression. Since then they have worked on a project where the main focus has been to go back to the roots, our connection with mother earth and the innermost natural part of our selves. The primal force. They call their music Electrojoik, which is electronic music with heavy beats blended together with the traditional Sami singing known as joik.
Elin Kåven from Karasjok is an established artist in her genre Arctic Folk Pop, where she sings joik in Sami. She has released three critically acclaimed solo albums on a German label and toured tweleve countries in the last ten years.
Robin Lynch is a recognized musician, songwriter and producer with a number of hit songs under his belt, including artists such as Pink, Jessie J and Cher. Robin is born and raised in Helgeland in the north of of Norway, but is now living in Sweden where he runs his studio.
The name Elin & The Woods came about while recording when Elin repeatedly told Robin “I have to go out to the woods before I decide!”
Her conversations with the woods played an important role in the project.
Their first single “First step in Faith / Oadjebasvuhtii” is a song best described as a suggestive heavy electronic joik. A song about having trust in the fact that everything is the way it should be. This song ended up as number tree in Melodi Grand Prix in Norway in 2017.
In 2020, the song "We are as one" finished second in the semi-final of the Norwegian Eurovision Song Contest.
Their debut album was released in 2020, and since then they have played concerts and participated in the Sámi Grand Prix (Sámi song contest) in 2022 with the song "Dát Vuovdi", and in 2025 with the song "Máilbmi Jorrá" with Jörgen Stenberg.
They are currently working on their second album, which will be released in 2026.
NORSK BIOGRAFI
Den samiske sangeren/låtskriveren Elin Kåven og låtskriver/musikkprodusent Robin Mortensen Lynch fant sammen i deres interesse for naturen, det nordiske og urmennesket i 2015. Siden da har de jobbet med hovedfokus på finne tilbake til røttene våre – kontakten til jorden og det innerste, naturlige i oss. Urkraften. De kaller musikken “urfolks electronisk pop” som består av elektronisk musikk med tunge rytmer og joik.
Elin Kåven fra Karasjok er etablert i sin egen sjanger Arktisk Folk Pop der hun synger på samisk og joiker. Hun har gitt ut tre kritikerroste soloalbum på sitt tyske plateselskap, og har turnért i 12 land de siste 10 årene. I 2018 mottok hun Sami Music Awards pris “Årets låtskriver.
Robin Lynch er en anerkjent musiker, låtskriver og musikkprodusent som har skrevet og produsert hitlåter blant annet til Pink, Jessie J og Cher. Har har jobbet som topliner i 15 år. I norge har har jobbet med bla. Margareth Berger, Ida Maria og Karin Park. Med en far med etnisk amerikanske røtter (indianer), ble Robin Lynch født og oppvokst på Helgeland i Nord-Norge, men nå bosatt i Sverige.
Navnet Elin & The Woods ble til da Elin gjentatte ganger sa til Robin : ”Jeg må ut å snakke med skogen før jeg bestemmer meg.”
Deres første singel ”First Step in Faith/ Oadjebasvuhtii” er en suggestiv, tung elektronisk joik låt som handler om å ha tillit til at alt er som det skal være – “det er perfekt som det er” – “du er perfekt som du er”. Med denne låten kom de på 3. plass i Melodi Grand Prix i 2017.
I 2020 endte sangen «We are as one» på andreplass i semifinalen i norsk Eurovision Song Contest.
Debutalbumet deres ble utgitt i 2020, og siden den gang har de spilt konserter og deltatt i Sámi Grand Prix (samisk sangkonkurranse) i 2022 med sangen «Dát Vuovdi», og i 2025 med sangen «Máilbmi Jorrá» med Jörgen Stenberg.
De jobber nå med sitt andre album som skal slippes i 2026.
